Cybersecurity Pitch @ NSW Parliament House, Sydney (09/05/2017)

Some of Australia’s biggest companies were on the hunt for NSW’s best and brightest students to help battle the threat of cyber crime.

In an industry with a global spend expected to top US$1 trillion by 2020, it’s essential to cultivate the next generation of ‘good guys’ (and ladies for that matter) to ensure a skilled talent pipeline. This is particularly topical given the overwhelming majority of IT decision makers (88%) believe that Australia is faced with a shortage of cyber security skills (Intel Security Survey).

The 130 students (half of whom were Masters or PhD level) were drawn from STEM, security and digital policy related studies and wowed the 25 brands including Atlassian, Google, BAE, Caltex, CBA, Deloitte, Dimension Data, Westpac, E&Y, HackLabs, Mastercard, Upguard, Microsoft and Thales.

‘Defence Connect’ was on hand to cover the highlights.

In fact, the night was so good that Ribit and NSW Department of Industry are planning to do it all again this November.

Students and companies can pre-register their interest via the Events page.
